Have You Been Told You Need A Dental Crown?

Have you been told you need a dental crown? What are some reasons you may need a crown?

  • Broken tooth/teeth
  • Large filling
  • Large decay in tooth
  • Cosmetic
  • Implant
These are just a few reasons you may need a dental crown. Dental crowns are restorative. Dental crowns are also used for cosmetic restoration. If a patient is unhappy with the shape or color of a tooth, then a crown would be a great option.

Here at Hemet Valley Dental Care, Dr. Ko offers several different crowning options. If a crown is needed on a front tooth, Dr. Ko would typically recommend and Empress crown. If a crown is needed on a back tooth, a Full Gold Crown or a Porcelain Fused to Metal crown would be suggested.

What is the process of getting a crown? At Hemet Valley Dental Care it's a 2 step process. The first appointment involves the reshaping of the tooth. An impression will be taken and sent to the Dental Lab. It takes about 2 1/2 weeks for the permanent crown to be made. A temporary crown will be made for you during this time. At your next appointment your temporary crown will be removed and your new crown will be tried in. If Dr. Ko and the patient are happy with the fit, color and shape, then your new crown will be placed with a permanent cement.
